Chris in the vietnam war billions of dollars were spent. More significantly it had resulted in the deaths of 58,000 young americans and the injuries of more than 300,000. Then after the soldiers came home they found it hard to escape the wars psycological impact. Then in 1973 congress passed the war powers act as a way to reestablish some limits on executive powers.

The war had cost the nation almost $150 billion in direct cost and much more in indirect economic expenses. 58,000 young americans had been killed and more than 300,000 had been injured. The vietnam war increased americans cynicism about their government.

The U.S. learned that in times of war the executive branch's power needs limiting and we also learned to stand aside more in foreign affairs.

the war's human toll; the United States paid a heavy price for its involvement in Vietnam. Billions of dollars were spent. Over 300,000 people were wounded or killed. In Vietnam around one million North and South Vietnamese soldiers died in the conflict as did countless civilians. the war also left its mark on the nation as a whole.
